Eat to Lower blood pressure

High blood pressure is becoming all too common in today's adults and children. Sometimes medications are needed but many times exercise and some changes in diet is all you need to lower it to recommended values. Please make sure you tell your doctor what you are doing and ask if it is safe for you.
Some foods thant can help your blood pressureĀ and are good for you in moderation are.
Dark Chocolate or Cocoa - Fulfils in dark chocolate and cocoa have been shown to lower BP. Milk chocolate does not. Remember to not overindulge as it can make you gain weight which is another problem in itself.
Celery - Has an oil which dilates blood vessels lowering pressure. Try 3-4 stalks per day.
Bananas - Bananas, about 2 per day, have been show to act as a ACE inhibitor which is a common blood pressure drug, lowers BP 10%.
Apples - Any food with good potassium content like apples can hlep with blood pressure.
Something to NOT eat, Salt - Salt plays a big role in raising blood pressure in many people. It raises fluid content in the vessels and causes the pressure to go up, sometimes quite a lot. Its not just salt out of the shaker, its sodium hidden in your food. If it has more than 200 mg per serving don't buy it and try to stay less than 2000 mg total per day.

celery is still healthy with a little peanut butter or dip or diced in a salad....

I didn't know this.I would eat more celery but find it hard to keep fresh because I am the only one in the household to eat it.
